John Edward Smith,77, of Rockingham, died Thursday, March 9, 2017 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. He was born December 12, 1939 in Richmond County, a son of the late John and Neillie Sessoms Smith.

Mr. Smith work several years at Industrial Sheet Metal and Superior Glass and Awnings.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Nellie Ruth Smith, Peggy Knight and a brother Fred Smith.

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, March 14 at 1:00 P.M. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlet with Pastor Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow Richmond Co. Memorial Park.

Surviving, His wife, Barbara Richardson Smith of Rockingham; Daughters, Sherry Morgan and husband Larry of Ellerbe, Patsy White and husband Eddie of Rockingham and Wendy O’Brien of Rockingham; Brothers, Clyde Smith, Bruce Smith and Harold Dwayne “Boo” Smith all of Rockingham; Grandchildren, Jordan Morgan, Jennifer Cline, Timothy Player, Whitney White Elvis, Tara, Tyler, Taylor White and Zachary& Holeigh O’Brien; Great grandchildren, Julian Cline and Cameron Player.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet.
