John E. Slovak, 74, 107 Wright Lane, Rockingham, NC died at his residence on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
He was born in Beaver Falls, Pa. on June 15, 1943, son of John Slovak and Zelda Slovak.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Hamlet and a member of the St. James Church Council. He served twenty two years in the US Air Force and was employed as a Manufacturing Engineer with Industrial Sheet Metal and American Standard. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and AMVETS. Mr. Slovak was, also, a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of thirty one years, Kathy M. Slovak of the home; sons and daughters, John A. (Watanna) Slovak of Kernersville, NC, Jimmy (JoAnn) Slovak of Phoenix, AZ, Julie Slovak Callen of High Point, NC, Amy Slovak of Phoenix, AZ, stepdaughter, Cori (Joel) Velazquez of Lakeland, FL; stepson, Damon (Stacy) Woodham of Cumming, GA; brothers, William Slovak of Parma, OH and Rick Slovak of Youngstown, OH; twelve grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Slovak, and his brother, Tom Slovak.
Visitation will start at 11 am, followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon at St. James Catholic Church, Hamlet on Monday, January 8.
