Janice Marie Simmons, 71, of Rockingham passed away on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday September 14th in the chapel at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Lee Griffith officiating.
Born February 27, 1946 in Richmond County she was a daughter of the late Jesse Russell and Kate Currie Simmons.
Janice was a country music singer and piano player, she worked at UCO Textiles, was a Certified Nursing Assistant, and played piano for Ledbetter Methodist Church where she was a member.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ray Simmons of Rockingham,
two sons, Nathan Allen Simmons (Trena) of Raleigh and Jesse Carroll Simmons of Rockingham, one daughter, Alicia Norton (Frank) of Rocky Mount, one sister, Shirley Jackson of Rockingham, and two grandchildren, Nathan Allen Simmons, Jr. and Mason Ray Simmons
The family will be receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
