Tribute

Jane Boone Lambert, 85, of Oak Island, formerly of Rockingham and Clayton, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024 at her home after “the long goodbye” with Alzheimer’s. Jane was born on March 23, 1938 in Bowden, NC, a daughter of the late Floyd Daniel and Louise Jernigan Boone. She was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate of over 60 years, Bobby C. “BC” Lambert in 2018. After Bobby passed away, Jane and Kelly were truly blessed by two caregivers, Teresa Jones and Dr. Felica Turner. These two “angels” have been there everyday providing care and support for Jane to remain at home. They became part of our family.

Jane loved any type of arts and crafts and was very talented. Her house was full of her paintings and crafts, one of her favorites being her beach theme Christmas tree with ornaments that she made. Jane was a huge fan of being around the water which started when she was young. She loved being a lifeguard, going to White Lake and Carolina Beach when she was growing up. Then to camping at the river, skiing in water shows on top of the pyramid, having a place on Lake Tillery, fishing anywhere she could put a pole in some water, camping at Ocean Lakes, and then all of the fun she and Bobby had at Oak Island with family and friends. Jane was very passionate and proud of her daughter, her three grandchildren, and her love for caring for people. Jane attended the Hamlet Hospital School of nursing in the 1950’s, next a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), and then graduated from NCSU with a Bachelors of Science in Health Occupations. She worked  at Hamlet, Moore, and Richmond Memorial Hospital. With the majority of her career at Richmond Memorial in the operating room she cherished the memories with her friends and coworkers. Jane was dedicated, hard-working, creative and compassionate. She was also a great basketball player when she was growing up. Jane’s greatest passion was her three grandchildren.

Jane is survived by a Daughter, Kelly Pleasant of Ellerbe (Rob) of Clayton; Grandchildren, Katelyn Shea Sawyer (Miller) of Benson, Abby Nicole Pleasant of Clayton and Logan Sanders Pleasant of Clayton; Sisters, Virginia Strickland of Kinston and Carol Kennedy of Clayton; A Brother, Jimmy Boone (Jill) of La Grange; a Sister-In-Law, Elneta Currie of Rockingham; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful cat companion, Ms. Priss.
