Jim Pippin was a member of the British Automobile Touring Society known by the short name of BATS. We are a collection of mostly like-minded folks driving British sports cars. Jim owned a 1977 Triumph Spitfire, which he sometimes drove to events, and our monthly breakfast gatherings in Carthage, NC.

During 2017, Jim hosted two events for the BATS. One, which we had done multiple times, was to bring our British cars to the Millstone 4H camp for a car show and have dinner with the campers. The last event Jim hosted on November 8, 2017 was our longest event. Jim was proud of the Rockingham\Hamlet area and showed us many of its fine features including McKinney National Fish Hatchery, tour the Hamlet depot, visitors center, and the new Tornado building with lunch at Seaboard Station in Hamlet.

Jim’s easy going approach to life and always putting others above himself will be greatly missed. We are better for having known him.

Regards

Joel Martin and the BATS.

I remember the first time I met Jim, I was 8 years old and a camper at Millstone 4-H Camp over 40 years ago. Throughout the years, Jim's love of 4-H and positive youth development was evident in the time he spent making a difference in the lives of young people.
Sending love and prayers to your family and a special thanks to Jim for sharing his life with 4-H.

Jim I want to thank you for being a great person. You taught me a lot of things about being a teacher. I will always remember those times at camp we laughed, smiled and cried. You were always a shining light during those days. I looked forward to coming back to camp because you made it great. Your a great man Jimmy P who will always be in my heart and every one else who worked for you. God bless your family. While your in heaven don't forget to sing the Bear Song you were always great. I love you and miss you.

The world is diminished now that Jim Pippin is no longer with us. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. I greatly appreciated all that he did as an educator and as a devoted Millstone 4-H Camp supporter, especially that twinkle in his eye. Barbara M. Parramore

My condolences to Jim's aunt & cousins and to Rufus & Kay who phoned me with the sad news of Jim's passing. He will be sadly missed as I have known him since his exchange programme to my school in Culloden in the early 80s and my many visits to Columbus, Georgia and Rockinginham visiting him. R I P

Thank you for posting. Jimmy's family does appreciate hearing from all of his friends. We have learned so much from you. Knowing he had friends from all over the world is wonderful. Thank you!

I just saw Jimmy recently on a Tuesday night at Hudson Brothers. I feel sure it was the first of November. I made it a point to speak with him and we talked about the good ole band days. It was a pleasure to see and talk with him. For some strange reason I was lead to go into the other room to speak to someone I hadn't really seen since high school days. Now I sadly know why! Rest In Peace, my friend, until we meet again!
