Herbert Bruce Simmons, 58, of Rockingham, died Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home. He was born January 15, 1959 in Charleston, SC, a son of the late Herbert Arthur “Ott” Simmons and Lena Bell Pate Simmons.

He was a graduate of Appalachian State University and later became Marketing Director for Pee Dee Electric for 14 years. Bruce was an active member of many civic organizations in Richmond County. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be conducted Friday, June 30, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Allen Bingham and Dr. Allison Farrah officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 30, 2017 from 10:00AM-11:30AM in the sanctuary at the First United Methodist Church prior to the service at 12:00PM.

Bruce is survived by his children: Brittany (Brennan) Brown of Lumberton, Bryce (Jesse) Futrell of Rockingham, and Matt (Grae) Simmons of Hampstead, NC; grandchildren: Natalie Brown, Eveie Futrell, and McKenzie Futrell; stepmother: Becky Simmons; siblings: Barbara Morton of Delaware, Ray Davis of Southern Pines, Robin Davis of Hamlet, and Suzy Middour of Chapel Hill and seven granddogs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Health EMS of Richmond County.
