Esther Ruth Currie, 85, of Ellerbe passed away Tuesday July 4, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday July 7th in the Chapel at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet with Rev. Leon Hawks officiating. Burial will follow at Rourk Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ellerbe.
Born June 22, 1932 in Moore County she was a daughter of the late Kenny and Odessa Blakely Pankey and wife of the late Auman Currie. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Pankey, and two sisters, Mary Frances Robert and Ella Prevatte.
Mrs. Currie was a seamstress for Gilead Manufacturing, operated a Home Daycare, and was a member of Rourk Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet Currie Greene (Tim) of Candor, one son, Sidney Russell Currie of Greensboro and Sid Currie, Jr. of Laurinburg, four sisters, Betty Layton, Sadie and Carol Richardson, all of Rockingham, and Eva Mae Hill of Virginia, one brother, Jesse Pankey of Virginia, fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
