Mr. David Charles Growe, 78, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his home. He was born May 2, 1939 in Brewster, Minnesota, grew up in Fulton, NY and later moved to St. Petersburg, FL.

Mr. Growe was the owner/operator of United Steel Works of Florida and “semi-retired” to Hamlet, NC, where he rediscovered his passion for farming and traveling the country in his RV. Mr. Growe was a veteran, serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of thirty-three years, Donna; children, Bobby Growe and wife Joy, Dean Growe, Karon Growe, Michael Growe and wife Krystal, Kimberly Pope and husband Billy, Shelby Nantz and husband Ricky, Aimee Leviner, Anthony Growe and wife Shelby, and Nathan Growe and wife Brooke; seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brothers, Alison Growe and wife Marina and Robert Growe and wife Carol; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he loved dearly; and his fur babies, Chip and Max. Mr. Growe was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ada Growe; a daughter, Carlene Caldwell Relyea; brothers, Norman, Richard, and Rodney; sisters, Lavonne, Donna, and Marilyn; and his traveling companion, Cooper.

A service to celebrate David’s life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, September, 4th at First Presbyterian Church in Hamlet with Elder Belinda Rice officiating and interment to follow the service. The family will have visitation to see friends Sunday, September 3rd from 4 to 6:00 pm at the church.

A memorial service will be held for family and friend in Florida on a date to be announced later.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Weekday School and First Presbyterian Church Sound System Fund, 200 Rice Street, Hamlet, NC 28345.
