Corey William Byrd, aged 39, of Rockingham, NC, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, to his eternal home. Corey, born on July 27, 1984, to Robert William Byrd and Tammy Tanner Byrd, leaves behind two wonderful children – Rylee Maleah Byrd and Corey William Byrd II – and his fiancée, Catherine Elizabeth Jones.
Known for his love for family and friends, Corey had a playful sense of humor and a resilient spirit. He was selfless, thoughtful, and always prioritized others. A veteran of the Army National Guard with degrees as a Registered Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistant, Corey's life was enriched by his dedication to service and care.
He is reunited in heaven with his Grandfather William Blake Byrd, Great Grandmother Francis Haywood, Great Grandmother Elle Tanner, Great Grandfather Carl Tanner, and Uncle Kenny Long, who held a special place in their hearts for him.
Corey is survived by his father, Robert William Byrd; mother, Tammy Tanner Byrd; daughter, Rylee Meleah Byrd; son, Corey William Byrd II; fiancée, Catherine Elizabeth Jones; Grandmother Earline Byrd; Grandmother Betsy Tanner; Grandfather Kenneth Tanner; and Aunt Lori Long. His cousins, uncles, and aunts also hold dear memories of him.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 15, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet
