Mr. John William Porter, 81, of Rockingham went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital. He was born March 6, 1936 in Anson County, son of the late Thomas Yarborough Porter and Luella Talley Porter.

Mr. Porter was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He was retired, having worked in Building Supply Sales, with Wickes, Carolina Standard, and McDonald Brothers. He was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Army.

Services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22nd at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Rockingham with interment to follow at Eastside cemetery with military honors. The family will see friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham.

Mr. Porter is survived by a daughter, Karen Porter Blanton and husband Tim of Suffolk, VA; a son, John Porter of Rockingham; and grandchildren, Jonathan Porter, Kasey Blanton Edwards, and Lane Blanton. Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Ann Porter.
